3 Small Businesses with Great Social Media Marketing


A list of our favorite social small businesses and how their social media marketing just works.

1. Martell Home Builders

An Atlantic Canada custom homebuilder, Martell Home Builders' tagline is "it's all about the experience" and they have a social media marketing campaign to back it up! Martell uses an extensive list of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube and even maintains a blog.

What they do right:
Consistent posting, interesting updates and extensive interaction with consumers and customers.

Favorite example:
In the spirit of the season that is no-shave November, Martell has begun a blog series that follows the expanding facial hair of three employees with weekly updates.

Tip:
Have content that makes your consumers keep coming back.

2. San Chez Bistro

A West Michigan bistro specializing in Spanish food, San Chez Bistro uses Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and YouTube for marketing.

What they do right:
Regular updates with a great amount of value to the customer, well-targeted to their community's likes, and great interaction with customers on their social media pages.

Favorite example:
San Chez allows customers to tweet ahead and reserve seating. Not only does this add an value to the patrons with its ease, but it is also a great social marketing technique.

Tip:
Always reply and connect with the users who comment on your pages - no excuses.


3. Green Apple Books

A book seller located in San Francisco, Green Apple Books uses Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr for social media marketing.

What they do right:
Entertaining distractions beside just promotions, typically daily (interesting!) updates and consistent use of a "quirky" voice that really works.

Favorite example:
Green Apple Books uses the more targeted social media platform, Tumblr, really effectively. Their posts are not merely recycled versions of their tweets or Facebook statuses but content tailored to the Tumblr market.


Tip:
Tailor your content to fit the target market of each social media platform you use.
